False Neon God is an experimental, instrumental piece of music by Michael J. Keplinger that forms the foundation of the eponymous music short film. The film, also directed by Keplinger, premiered at the Crossing Europe Film Festival in 2020. Originally released exclusively with the film, ‘False Neon God’ was remastered by Keplinger and received a wide digital release through DIEgital Records on 17 October 2025.
False Neon God – The Music Video
Shooting took place on a single evening in December 2018. The prominent Austrian performance artist Silke SILK Grabinger stars in the video. Not until almost two years later, did the music video finally premiere at Crossing Europe, after a troubled era for film festivals due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Michael J. Keplinger would later return to a – by then full-scale – Crossing Europe film festival with short films such as Allerseelen and IRIS.
