The Words At Play, the debut EP of original music by MJK (Michael J. Keplinger), will be released digitally on 31 July 2026 via DIEgital Records.
The five-track concept EP follows the singles The Words At Play and Ember and marks the first full collection of original music from MJK. Emerging from a song written during a flight to London, the EP developed into a deeply personal reflection on time and language, memory and impermanence, presence and emotional distance.
Combining atmospheric art-rock with introspective songwriting, the collection moves through cinematic textures, layered harmonies and a sense of quiet intensity. It was written, performed and produced entirely by MJK and mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios, London.
The release is accompanied by The Words At Play: Visual EP, a 16-minute short film composed of five interconnected music videos. Written and directed by MJK, the film expands the world of the EP through fragmented narrative and subjective imagery, continuing its exploration of memory, emotional inertia and self-reflection. Two of the five chapters have already been released alongside their respective singles. The remaining chapters will follow the full EP release.
The Words At Play will be released digitally everywhere on 31 July 2026.
